ABOUT ABORTIONS – THOSE WHO WANT TO KILL ME?

Sanità, felicità, benessere e spensieratezza. Ecco cosa non sono gli About Abortions. Ci si immerge letteralmente nella malattia, nel suicidio, nell’ esasperazione, nel panico e nel dolore; ciò rende l’ ascolto di questo disco -per semplicemente passatempo- qualcosa di normativamente sbagliato (io l’ ho ascoltato una decina di volte in due o tre giorni, ma non ditelo a nessuno). “Allora perché ascoltare questo disco?”, mi chiederete… Semplicemente per comprendere cos’è il disturbo mentale, soggetto indiscusso dell’ album, espresso nelle sue varie disturbanti sfaccettature. Oltre ad essere una cosa totalmente difficile da ascoltare non è pure facile da comprendere: il genere può risultare banale e ridicolo o incentrarsi sulla parte tecnica, trascurando quella emotiva. Ebbene, dopo un bel po’ di ascolti posso confermare che il duo Thirteen Forever - Solitudo Cyfer non fa nulla di tutto questo: non c’è banalità, bensì puro affanno, dolore e squilibrio; emotività e disturbo prevalgono su tutto, non c’è calma, solo agonia. Ti ritrovi in una gabbia, senza luce; il buio ti opprime, schiacciato da un senso di affanno e d’ angoscia tenti di liberarti, ma sei incatenato. Così, soffocato e bloccato in tutti i sensi, collassi e tenti di suicidarti. Personalmente non trovo miglior modo per descrivere la sensazione che il disco porta. Strumentalmente non c’è molto da descrivere: le linee vocali sono tra le più malate e disturbanti che abbia mai sentito; tenute vive da urla, scream dolorosi e respiri affannanti, duettano perfettamente con una base alquanto malata ed angosciante (tecnicamente nulla di grezzo, anzi, ci si avvicina a suoni tiranti al Dark Ambient/Drone). Unica nota: il disco è composto da tre brani, di cui tre bonus track che propongono le tracce precedenti nella versione strumentale; cosa che a parer mio non era indispensabile, ma poco conta. Una band che possiede un certo potenziale nel DSBM, come in altri generi, non può essere trascurata per l’ ennesima volta; spero che con il full-lenght in fase di scrittura ne esca qualcosa di ancora meglio. Ammalatevi, lasciatevi trasportare dagli About Abortions, dove avete paura che vi portino?

Soundness, happiness, wellbeing and thoughtlessness. Those aren't the elements that compose About Abortion's music. It is an immersion in pain, in suicide and in sickness; this makes the listening of the CD very wrong and incomplete, but this is the main concept of the album, the mental trouble. I appreciate very much the fact that in this project the main theme of the CD is expressed in its various facets, and it is interesting listening how this band composed every song in a different way without being boring or repetitive. I think also that here the genre is taken to its most extreme form and it makes the listening of the CD more difficult to appreciate and to understand. About Abortions are different from other Depressive Black metal bands, if you search a Depressive album in which there are expressed just pain and sickness, this is the CD this is perfect for you: pure pain and uncomfortableness. Listening to this album takes you into an immaginary terrible condition in which you are in a dark cage, and the dark oppresses you, you are squashed by a sense of anguish and absolute pain, so you try liberating yourself, but you're unchained. So,you suffocated,make suicide. It is the best way to describe the sound of the band and in particular of this album. There isn't so much to write about the instrumental side of the CD: I've never heard a so disturbing, sick and despairing singing. The singer to obtain this atmosphere resorts painful screams, shouts and troubled breathings, but technically it contains nothing of raw, the sound is similar to Dark ambient and Drone. This band is a very big promise for the DSBM scene and to me it should be not neglected, so let the sound of this band takes you into an oppressive, dark and claustrophobic immaginary place, won't you?
